Peace Through Unity

This was NDUK’s first project. Funded by Lottery (Awards for All), the project aimed to help young people understand the importance of strong communities in working together to tackle intolerance and discrimination. 20 school events were held during 2013 with veterans and refugees, speaking to over 3,500 students and raising awareness of the impact of war and conflict at an individual and community level and highlighting the relationship between prejudice, discrimination, hate crime and global conflicts.

The events coincided with Holocaust Memorial Day, Normandy D-Day, Coventry Peace Month and Refugee Week. The project was a springboard for NDUK’s second project – an educational film to mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day in 2014.
