Normandy Pilgrimage

70th Anniversary of D-Day Landings – May 2014

Some of our veterans served in the Normandy Landings and, thanks to a Lottery (Heroes Return) grant, NDUK arranged for a group of 20 D-Day veterans, spouses, widows, friends, carers and a film crew to take a four-day pilgrimage to the beaches, battlefields and cemeteries of Normandy. For some of them, this was the first time they had returned and was an emotional occasion.

Here is a two minute film by jam-av that interviews some of the veterans during their visit:

A one minute interview with a D-Day veteran, David Roberts, can be viewed here.

Acclaimed photo-journalist and war zone photographer Alison Baskerville accompanied the veterans. Some of her photos can be viewed above.
